Toyota reactivated vehicle production in Brazil at the Indaiatuba and Sorocaba factories, both in the interior of São Paulo, after just over 40 days of stoppage. The units had been shut down since September 22 due to a stormwhich hit the Porto Feliz (SP) plant hard, where the automaker’s engines were produced. 
The resumption began this Monday (3) and will be gradual, using engines and parts imported from other units abroad. In this first stage, Toyota do Brasil will produce hybrid versions of the Corolla and Corolla Cross models.
In October, Toyota reported that the production of vehicles with conventional engines will only resume in January 2026, both for the Brazilian market and for export, covering vehicles from the current production line – Corolla and Corolla Cross.

Storm
The heavy rains and windstorms of September 22nd left a toll of destruction and damage in the state of São Paulo. Civil Defense released a report with 33 incidents, with a balance of 24 people injured, eight homeless and 33 displaced in different regions.
In addition to the roofing of the automaker’s factory in Porto Feliz, which left ten people injured and eight homeless, there were floods, falling trees and collapses.
Serious occurrences were also recorded in Rancharia, Ourinhos, Santa Fé do Sul, Presidente Prudente and Presidente Venceslau, with windstorms, roofing and falling trees. In Dracena, a tree fell on a vehicle leaving two victims. In Osasco, the roof of three residences collapsed, leaving three families homeless.
