Banks promote joint effort to negotiate outstanding bank debts

Consumers who have debts on credit cards, special checks, payroll loans and other types of credit contracted from banks and financial institutions and who want to negotiate these debts have until the 30th to participate in the Negotiation and Financial Guidance Task Force. Banks promote joint effort to negotiate outstanding bank debts

More than 160 institutions participate in the action, in addition to partners such as the Central Bank, the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) and Procons. Financing for vehicles, motorcycles and real estate are not included in the joint effort.

Negotiations can be made directly with participating institutions on their official channels or through the portal ConsumerGovBra free public service that connects consumers and companies so that they can find alternatives to consumer conflicts.

To request trading through the platform, the consumer must have a Silver or Gold account on the Gov.br application. Debts can be negotiated as long as they are in arrears and do not have assets pledged as collateral, or prescribed.

According to Febraban, the joint effort is an opportunity to negotiate debts under special conditions, such as installments, discounts on the total amount of the debt or reduced interest rates for refinancing.

It will also be possible to request in-person support from Procons who joined the task force to negotiate directly on the banks’ digital channels.

“For over-indebted people, the negotiation flow is different, as it requires a greater understanding of the debts and support from Procon to create a payment plan”, explains the entity.

All information about the joint effort, as well as the complete list of participating institutions and the channels offered by banks for debt negotiation, are available on the platform My Pocket in Dia Febraban. To join the collective effort, you can directly activate your bank’s digital channel.

Another way to join is to register on the website www.consumidor.gov.brlog in, select the institution you want to trade with and follow the instructions. The company has up to ten days to analyze and respond to your request.

To check whether you have outstanding debts, the consumer can access an updated report maintained by the Central Bank, called Registration.

If the debt is not with a financial institution, it is possible to look for Serasa, which also promotes the Feirão Serasa Limpa Nome, through which the consumer has the opportunity to pay off non-bank debts in arrears, and with discounts, contracted from retail, telecommunications, energy, sanitation, university and financial companies.

Another possibility is to negotiate late debts at post offices participating in the fair.
