This November 2, 2025, Medellín celebrated three and a half centuries of history, tradition and transformationcommemorating the anniversary of its founding in 1675.
The heart of the celebration was an emotional ceremony held in Berrío Park, the founding site of the ancient Villa de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.
The event, loaded with symbolism, was attended by the mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, and the governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, who highlighted the evolution of the city and its consolidation as a Special District of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The formal ceremony was the highlight of the commemoration, with a rich cultural program that included the participation of the Medellín Music Network, the Filarmed orchestra, and the Metropolitan Ballet with the presentation of the work Botero.
Under the motto “Under the same sky, over the same valley”, The District Administration called on all citizens —born and welcomed— to reaffirm their pride and sense of belonging to this territory that has managed to turn strength into one of its most valuable legacies.
