Another US attack against a boat leaves three dead in the Caribbean

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth reported on Saturday another “lethal kinetic attack” against a ship allegedly linked to drug trafficking in the Caribbean, ordered by President Donald Trump.

Through his account on the social network

“This ship – like all the others – was known to our intelligence services for its participation in narcotics smuggling, it transited a known drug trafficking route and transported narcotics,” he added.

Hegseth confirmed that three people, whom he called “narcoterrorists,” died during the attack.

“These narcoterrorists are bringing drugs into our country to poison Americans in their own land, and they will not succeed. The Department will treat them exactly the same as we treat Al-Qaeda. “We will continue to track them, locate them, search for them and eliminate them,” said the secretary.

With the justification of the fight against drugs, the US Government ordered a military deployment in the Caribbean and, since last September, it has attacked to more than 15 vessels in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific, claiming that they had links to drug trafficking without presenting evidence of this. According to international media, around 60 people have been killed during these actions.

The most recent attack occurred on October 29 in the Pacific, leaving four dead. These actions were qualified by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turkas violating international law.

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, has repeatedly denounced that Venezuela is the victim of “a multiform war” orchestrated from the US and accused Washington of inventing “a new eternal war.” Likewise, he stated that the objective of these actions is a change of Government and the theft of the country’s natural wealth, mainly oil.

Reports from United Nations organizations have ruled out that illegal substances destined for the United States are produced or trafficked in Venezuela. They have also specified that 87% of the narcotics destined for the US leave via the Pacific route, especially from Colombia and Ecuador, while 8% do so through Colombia’s La Guajira. Similar conclusions are presented in the ‘European Drug Report 2025: trends and progress’.
