The Russian ambassador to Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, considered that the recent visit to Caracas by a delegation from Washington to meet with the government of President Nicolás Maduro, “is a sign that they have recognized their mistaken policies towards Venezuela.”
In a program broadcast this Sunday, in an interview with Minister of Communication Ernesto Villegas, Mélik-Bagdasárov expressed “we consider this trip by the US delegation as a sign that they have recognized their mistaken policies towards Venezuela.”
“It is evidence that they recognize that there is no other government than that of President Nicolás Maduro.”
In his opinion, it is evidence that they are trying to correct their mistakes, and he hopes that in time they will do so with Russia as well.
He stressed that since the beginning of the US aggression against Venezuela, Russia has been in favor of normalizing relations between the US and Venezuelan governments, based on mutual respect.
“We are a country in favor of the dialogue process,” said the Russian ambassador to the country, who insisted that the Russian authorities are against unilateral coercive measures.
Regarding the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and the sanctions applied by the United States and Europe as a result of the military operation carried out by Russia in Ukraine since February 24, Mélik-Bagdasárov trusts that Russia can overcome them, because “my country is strengthened now, and the truth is with us.”
In this sense, he explained that Russian President Vladimir Putin made the decision after evidence was found of the preparation of attacks on the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics.
“The military operation began to protect the thousands of Russians who are there, in those territories,” he said.
The ambassador indicated that the Russian armed forces are denazifying Ukraine where there is a policy of hatred towards Russians, and have found evidence that military action against Russia was being prepared in chemical and biological laboratories financed by the United States.
