In the last few hours, a video was released showing the attack suffered by Jaime Esteban Moreno Jaramillo, a 20-year-old young man and student of Systems Engineering at the Universidad de los Andes, during the early hours of October 31 in Bogotá. The images, recorded by witnesses, show the moment in which the university student was attacked in the middle of a fight that occurred after a Halloween party.

Moreno Jaramillo was urgently transferred to the Chapinero Hospital, and then due to the severity of the injuries to the Simón Bolívar, where he finally died due to severe head trauma.
His death has caused deep shock in the university community and on social networks, where friends and colleagues have remembered him as an outstanding student and a quiet young man.
The authorities confirmed the capture of three people allegedly involved in the attack. The detainees are being investigated for the crime of homicide, while the Prosecutor’s Office advances in the collection of testimonies and evidence that will clarify the circumstances of the attack.

The University of the Andes regretted the fact and expressed its solidarity with the family of Jaime Esteban Moreno, rejecting any act of violence that takes the lives of young people in university or recreational spaces.
