People and Bolivarian Militia key fusion in the defense of the homeland

In the context of the “Independence 200” Military Exercises, the General Commander of the Bolivarian Militia, M/G Orlando Ramón Romero Bolívar, highlighted the robust organization of the Venezuelan people for the comprehensive defense of the nation, in the face of what he denounced as an “imperialist threat” by US military contingents present in the Caribbean since last August. This was highlighted in an interview given to the Energía Multipolar program, broadcast by VTV Radio 99.5 FM.

He specified that the people and the Bolivarian Militia are consecrated as a key fusion in the defense of the Homeland, in the face of the repeated siege actions that the country suffers as part of the multiform war that Washington uses against Venezuela, “today more than ever united when we have an imperialist threat, as the president, Nicolás Maduro, said, the most serious threat of the last 100 years.”

He stressed that the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, Nicolás Maduro, successfully carries out the “Independence 200” Military Exercises, which has more than eight million Venezuelans enlisted.

M/G Romero Bolívar stressed that the people who enlist in the ranks of the Bolivarian Militia, a special component of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, are aware of who is the historical enemy of free and sovereign peoples, and that the military escalation in the Caribbean is due to economic interests that seek to take away natural resources from Venezuela. Against this backdrop, he detailed the evolution and functioning of the country’s defensive architecture.

Fusion of Popular Power and the comprehensive defense of the nation

M/G Romero Bolívar explained that the basis of the civic, military, and popular police fusion that has been consolidated to date is a structure found in the social organization of the town, inherited from the System of Missions and Great Social Missions and the Bolivarian thought that is consolidated through the Local Supply and Production Committees (CLAP), the street chiefs, communal councils, communes and various expressions of Popular Power.

He explained that from there derives the articulation from each territory, with the defensive military component of the Bolivarian Militia, which also adds to peace and supreme social happiness.

“This structure is set up and is linked to the town’s own social structure,” said Romero Bolívar, highlighting that the fundamental cell is the Popular Comprehensive Defense Unit (Updi) formed in each community.

In that order, he explained the pyramidal and territorial intelligence organization and detailed the model is structured as follows:

1. Popular Comprehensive Defense Unit –Updi- (Community): It is the base, where a chief is democratically elected by the community to organize the defense of its immediate territorial space.

This figure, explained M/G Romero Bolívar, acts as spokesperson and coordinator, with a deep knowledge of the inhabitants and local dynamics, which allows identifying and reporting any strange presence or behavior.

2. Communal Militia Unit (UCM): It groups multiple communities within a commune, functioning as an intermediate step for the distribution of resources, logistics and the application of government plans. Here the Communes, communal councils, social committees, technical tables, justices of the peace and the Peace Quadrants converge.

3. Combatant Bodies in Strategic Industries: Defense extends to companies and industries vital to the country, both public and private.

Workers, from laborers to managers, are organized to guarantee the continuity of national production “no matter what”, neutralizing any internal threat of sabotage.

Specialized components and humanistic character

The Bolivarian Militia also integrates Special Units adapted to the geographical and cultural diversity of Venezuela, such as the peasant militia, the fishing militia for maritime spaces and the indigenous militia, whose deep connection with the territory strengthens national defense.

M/G Romero Bolívar stressed that the entire system is governed by respect for human rights and the practice of humanism. “We are respectful of human rights. The guarantee of tranquility and compliance with human rights are principles of the Bolivarian Revolution,” he stated.

The Bolivarian Militia, M/G Romero Bolívar concluded, represents a “qualitative leap” in the defense of the Homeland, fusing the strength of organized Popular Power with the Bolivarian Military Doctrine to deter and confront any type of aggression, guaranteeing peace and national sovereignty.
