An unfortunate tragedy mourns the university community of Los Andes. Jaime Esteban Moreno Jaramillo, 20 years old and a Systems Engineering student at that institution, died in the early hours of October 31 after being attacked at a Halloween party outside a bar. The events, which are still the subject of investigation, would have occurred in the middle of a private celebration in which several young people participated, apparently from the aforementioned university.

According to preliminary versions, Moreno Jaramillo was transferred from the emergency room to the Chapinero Hospital, after being found on a public street with several injuries to his body, but despite medical efforts, he died in the afternoon due to the severity of the injuries.
Apparently, the young man suffered a craniocerebral trauma as a result of the beating that the young people who have already been fully identified by the capital authorities allegedly gave him.

A witness to the events informed the authorities of the alleged participation in this incident of two women of foreign nationality and another young Colombian, who were initially detained for personal injuries.

«These three people, who were subsequently captured, do not have a criminal record. A fight as such occurs between them,” explained Colonel Jorge Arizal, commander of the Barrios Unidos Police, in conversations with Citytv.
The news has caused shock among students, teachers and relatives of the young man, who demanded clarity about what happened and justice in the face of the possible violent act.
The authorities confirmed that they are collecting more testimonies and reviewing security camera recordings to establish how the events developed and who would be responsible. “We are carrying out the corresponding investigation to determine the exact circumstances of what happened and take the appropriate judicial measures,” indicated a police source.
Friends and colleagues of Jaime Esteban described him as a happy, responsible young man committed to his studies. On social networks, hundreds of messages of condolence have circulated since dawn, accompanied by calls for reflection on violence and excessive alcohol consumption at university celebrations.
The case remains in the hands of the judicial authorities, who are seeking to clarify whether it was a fight, a collective attack or an isolated incident. Meanwhile, the Los Andes campus remains in mourning and it is expected that in the next few hours a symbolic act will be held in memory of Jaime Esteban Moreno Jaramillo
