Cartagena is preparing to celebrate its Independence with three civic days and an agenda full of history, culture and November joy.
The Mayor’s Office of Cartagena declared Tuesday the 11th, Thursday the 13th and Friday the 14th of November 2025 as civic days. on the occasion of the commemoration of the 214 years of the city’s Independence. According to Decree 2151 of 2025, the measure seeks to strengthen the cultural agenda and promote citizen participation in the different events scheduled during the month of November.
The decision is based on the extensive cultural and festive agenda programmed by the District to strengthen the November tradition and empower citizens. lThe civic days coincide with the most important events of the holiday:
–Tuesday, November 11: Commemoration of the Cry of Independence of 1811.
-Thursday, November 13: Celebration of the Grand Independence Parade (Bando).
-Friday, November 14: Independence Nautical Festival and Arsenal Bololó.
The district administration invited all Cartagenans to join the celebrations and enjoy the cultural spaces that exalt the history, identity and traditions of the city, but with order and civility.

Other festive events
For this 2025, ‘the Festival that unites us’ will have programming starting this November 1 with the traditional celebration of Ángeles Somos, the only cultural manifestation of the city declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of the country, and will extend until November 17, with different events among which stand out: the Artisan Costume and Swimsuit parades of the Reign of Independence; the traditional side – Grand Independence Parade, Nautical Parade, among others.

Our artists: musicians, dancers, plastic artists, have been key in this celebration. Through their talent they have captured all those expressions that fill us with pride and that have great meaning within this commemoration not only of the city but of the entire country,” says Lucy Espinosa, Director of the IPCC.
