“It is no coincidence that in a moment as difficult as this, the people of Venezuela are being intimidated by threats, sieges, snares, God has sent us these two saints. This great moment is not coincidence, but causality, because we are a peace-loving people, who do not deserve to be under the siege of imperialism,” said the Sectoral Vice President of Defense and Sovereignty, G/J. Vladimir Padrino López during the Thanksgiving Mass for the Canonization of Saint José Gregorio Hernández and Saint Mother Carmen Rendiles.
In this sense, he emphasized that the weapons of the Republic are compatible with faith, spirituality, love of neighbor and that the combat of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) is not out of hatred or warriorism, but rather fights for sublime principles such as national independence and the values of the Homeland.
Likewise, Vice President Padrino López exalted the deep link between Venezuelan spirituality and the patriotic commitment of its historical figures, such as Saint Mother Carmen Rendiles, example of human virtues, and Saint José Gregorio Hernández, doctor, scientist and man of the people.
For which he thanked Pope Francis who, “before leaving for eternal life,” gave the order of canonization to the now Venezuelan saints; as well as the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, who was incisive in this task.
“We have to thank him because we know of the great conspiracies that have been woven in bad faith, in darkness. So today we thank God, because this must be taken as a positive sign and continuity along the path of these two saints,” said Padrino López.
In this sense, he invited us to take Saint José Gregorio Hernández and Holy Mother Carmen Rendiles as a reference to be more perfect every day and seek holiness.
In the case of “men and women at arms, our holiness comes from military art, perseverance, perseverance, sacrifice (…) We must follow the example of perfection of these two saints, from personal presentation to the way we communicate, and cultivate daily self-demand,” he stressed.
