Saudi Arabia announces aid to Cuba after Hurricane Melissa

Saudi Arabia will send aid to Cuba to contribute to the recovery of the damage caused by the Hurricane Melissaas announced by the Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, during his official visit to that Gulf country.

Marrero sent a message of encouragement to the Cuban people, who “lived through very difficult hours after the passage of Hurricane Melissa,” and stated that “once again we are going to recover.”

He also detailed that he had spoken with the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, who expressed his intention to send ships with rice, electrical transformers and other supplies as part of humanitarian assistance to Cuba.

The Cuban delegation also signed a Memorandum of Understanding for tourism cooperation, which includes support for hydraulic and agricultural projects.

“In each of the meetings, the desire to strengthen and expand cooperation and develop joint businesses was explicit, based on the opportunities that Cuba offers,” Marrero expressed in his account on X.

The prime minister stressed: “the onslaught of Hurricane Melissa and the damage caused in the eastern region of the country have been the priority issues on our agenda in Saudi Arabia.”
