Tacna: They will collect food in markets and companies to help the vulnerable

Representatives of Cáritas del Perú and the Diocese of Tacna and Moquegua presented the “Food Rescue” Project, which aims to feed vulnerable people with limited economic resources in the region.

The person responsible for the project, Yanet Carrera Vásquez, indicated that the aim is to contribute to the reduction of food waste in markets, farms, restaurants and public and private institutions. The announcement was made at a press conference in the auditorium of the Tacna cathedral.

Beneficiary parishes and centers

They explained that among the beneficiaries are the San Martín de Porres soup kitchens, Nuestra Señora de Fátima, Madre Clarc, San José Misericordioso, Parroquia San Juan XXIII, Geriatrico San José, home for adolescent girls and mothers Angélica Recharte, among others.

In the activity, the Cáritas representative also explained that it is expected to collect at least 20 tons of food, including groceries, vegetables and tubers, as well as four tons of hydrobiological products consisting of fish, shellfish, squid and preserves.

They call on the community to join

They are making it known in order to have the support of various organizations so that they can supply the parishes and the soup kitchens that prepare the food. Bishop Marco Antonio Cortez Lara, representatives of Cáritas and others involved in the initiative participated in the conference.
