CDMX agrees to raise the fare of route and corridor public transportation

The Government of the Mexico City will increase the fare of public transportation in its route and corridor modality, with the exception of the Metrobús System, after reaching an agreement with representatives of the concessioned service.

In a statement released this Friday night, the capital’s Mobility Secretariat detailed that an increase of 1 peso and 50 cents to the current transportation rates was authorized.

“Both concessionaires and permit holders must permanently display the authorized rate in visible places on their vehicles, terminals and bases. Otherwise, the update will have no effect,” CDMX authorities warned.

The capital authorities explained that with the objective of seeking an improvement in the transportation service, the group of transporters committed to comply with various conditions, among which it was highlighted that in terms of safety, they must carry a valid and visible Type “C” driving license, remove tinted windows; in addition to having current civil liability insurance for the unit in operation, in addition to showing the license plate number on the unit’s color scheme.

In addition, it was agreed that they carry out periodic reviews of the vehicles and the safety devices that the units have.

“Drivers must wear a uniform consisting of dark pants and a white shirt, keep the units in optimal clean conditions and participate in training programs,” detailed the capital government.

The new rates will come into effect the day after they are published in the Mexico City Gazette.
