In a telephone conversation, the Presidents Lula and Claudia Sheinbaum, of Mexico, agreed to deepen economic partnership between the countries. Including, she asked for Brazilian support to obtain Brazilian cooperation for ethanol production.
At another point in the conversation, Claudia Sheinbaum expressed interest in receiving information from Brazil about the implementation of social programs to combat hunger and poverty in that country.
According to the federal government, Lula reported to the Mexican woman information about commitments in Indonesia and Malaysia, and highlighted the potential for cooperation between Latin America and Southeast Asia.
The Mexican president told Lula that she appointed Minister Alicia Barcenas (Environment and Natural Resources) to represent the country at COP30, in Belém (PA).
“The two presidents celebrated the good moment in the Brazil-Mexico relationship and agreed to meet as soon as possible”, announced the government.
