The lawyer Elio Rieraspokesperson for Alliance for Progressspoke about Óscar Acuña, brother of the founder of the party, after it was announced that he had received S/ 77,000 from the questioned company Frigoinca to favor it in efforts and procedures before the Regional Government of La Libertad.
Riera pointed out that, although a crime has not yet been proven, his organization will not endorse any illegal act. Furthermore, he specified that the brother of Cesar Acuna will be subject to an investigation within APP.
“APP is not going to endorse any crime. We have to subject a person to an investigation process. I am respectful of the principle of presumption of innocence. Of course, there is a complaint and the role of journalists is to investigate and based on that, the Public Ministry makes a statement,” he declared in RPP.
“If there is a crime we will have to go in line with it, but in the meantime we cannot give an advance statement.”
The lawyer assured that the former governor of La Libertad has not commented on his brother’s situation because he hopes that justice will first determine if he finds criminal responsibility.
“I believe that each person has to respond based on their actions and in this specific case we show an important journalistic story… If a crime is identified, they will be the first to speak out as I am convinced they have done on other occasions,” he said.
TODAY THE PRESIDENTIAL PLANCHA WILL BE KNOWN
On the other hand, the APP spokesperson announced that this Thursday the presidential plan of his group will be announced, which is headed by César Acuña, who will run for the Presidency for the third time.
The political group issued a statement on Wednesday in which it announced that Óscar Acuña was removed from the list of pre-candidates for Congress due to the Punto Final report, in which it was pointed out that the brother of the former governor had received money from Frigoinca for alleged favors.
An effective collaborator of the Public Ministry assured that Óscar Acuña received S/ 77,000 from businessman Nilo Burga, who was found dead in 2024. The payments would have been made between September and December 2023.
Acuña admitted having received money, but assured that the amount was between 15 and 20 thousand soles. In addition, he assured that it was a loan to cover administrative staff expenses and said that the money had already been returned.
