Franco Mastantuono (18) has joined the discipline of real Madrid coming from River Platewhich charged 45 million euros for its midfielder corresponding to his termination clause. In the ‘millionaire’ team they could not prevent the departure of the footballer, whose price for the white club was ridiculous given the promising future that the Argentine pearl has ahead of him.
The fact is that now, in Buenos Aires, they believe that the operation was of very little benefit to them and that they could have obtained much more for it. This was stated by the general secretary of River, Stefano Di Carlo, on ‘Radio La Red’. “We always said that we would not sell him, and we did not: Real Madrid came and executed the termination clause. It would have been wonderful to have him, but it was not possible. That is football,” he lamented.
Di Carlo then got to the point: “When that contract was signed, two years ago, it was a great achievement. It is among the three most expensive transfers in the history of Latin America… But with Mastantuono’s 45 million euros, we have fallen short. The European market is operating at an inopportune moment for us. They decide to strengthen themselves to face all the competitions and they dismantle our teams. No more.”

Thus, they have decided to take measures: they are going to tie all their pearls with termination clauses of 100 million euros. The first one they have done it with is with Juan Bautista Dadín, when he renewed his contract until 2028. This clause has become “mandatory” for all the players that River has bought or renewed after the sale of Mastantuono. “The objective is to put an end to unilateralism when someone wants to terminate the contract. With 100 million euros they should come sit down and talk to us.”
