Colombians will spend up to $200,000 on candy and costumes for Halloween, according to Fenalco

A survey by Fenalco and the ITM revealed that the majority of Antioqueños will celebrate Halloween with their family, buying candy and costumes.

A few hours before the Halloween celebration, a survey led by Fenalco and ITM University revealed how citizens plan to enjoy this day.

According to the figures, 64.3% of respondents will celebrate Halloween, while 35.7% will not. However, even among those who do not celebrate, 50.9% consider the date normal or important. Among those who do participate in the celebration, the perception of relevance rises to 93%.

As for the way to celebrate, 54% of the participants stated that they will buy sweets12.6% will invest in decoration, 10.5% in makeup and 4.5% in party supplies.

Regarding the most frequent places of purchase, Fenalco highlighted that 31.5% of consumers prefer supermarketsfollowed by neighborhood stores (21.2%), shopping centers (19.6%), specialized stores (15%), e-commerce platforms (7.2%) and social networks (5.6%).

In relation to the budget allocated to the celebration, The survey found that 61% of consumers plan to spend up to $100,00014.9% will invest between $100,000 and $150,000, 12.9% between $150,000 and $200,000, and 10.9% more than $200,000.

National figures

This year, most Colombians are preparing to celebrate Halloween with their family. According to the most recent Fenalco survey73% of citizens will participate in this date, which is officially commemorated on Thursday, October 31.

Of that group, 50% will do it with their children, 17% with their co-workers, another 17% with their partner and 16% with friends.

Spending on costumes and accessories is also part of the tradition. 44% plan to invest between 100,000 and 200,000 pesos, while 20% will allocate more than 200,000 pesos. On the other hand, 13% will choose to make or recycle their own clothing, looking for more economical or sustainable options.
