Frigate Lieutenant Mariel Sánchez Martínez, who is part of the Naval Aeronautics service, graduated as the first female flight instructor from the Mexican Navy Secretariat (Semar).
The aviator pilot “satisfactorily completed the Aircraft Instructor Qualification course, at the facilities of the Naval Aviation School based in La Paz, Baja California Sur,” the agency reported.
“This achievement represents a historic moment for the Naval Aviation School, in its 82 years of existence and for Naval Aviation, 99 years after being established in Mexico. Lieutenant Sánchez Martínez thus becomes the first female flight instructor to complete the aforementioned qualification, marking a significant precedent that inspires and motivates new generations of women within the Navy,” he noted.
“With this important event, institutional action on gender equality continues to be consolidated, which sets a benchmark and example to follow for the women who are part of this institution,” the secretariat highlighted in a statement.
The federal agency noted that it reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive, quality education so that its personnel “perform effectively in their aero-naval operations, with the sole objective of serving Mexico.”
