President José Jerí met with Julio Velarde, head of the Central Bank

The president of the republic, José Jerímet on Wednesday with the president of the Central Reserve Bank, Julio Velardeat the headquarters of the monetary entity. The Minister of Economy, Denisse Miralles, as well as the general manager of the BCR, Paul Castillo Bardález, also participated in the meeting.

The visit was reported through the official Presidency account, where it was reported that it took place “to reaffirm the Government’s commitment to economic stability, fiscal responsibility and confidence in the country.”

During the meeting, the president highlighted that economic stability is a central pillar for his management, as well as citizen security. In that sense, he assured that his government will protect fiscal soundness.

“We are convinced that Peru must preserve its institutional framework, with clear rules, solid institutions and a long-term vision. That will be our legacy: a country that honors its commitments, protects its fiscal solidity and continues to be a reliable destination for investment,” he said.

The head of state also expressed his respect for the independence of the BCR and emphasized that the Ministry of Economy will carry out a responsible fiscal policy.

“We respect and support the independence of the Central Reserve Bank, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance will continue to lead a prudent, responsible and transparent fiscal policy,” he said.

Jerí indicated that the Executive will promote a joint agenda with Sunat to reduce tax evasion and reduce informality, as well as expand the tax base.

“Our objective is clear: guarantee stability, promote investment and ensure sustained growth for the benefit of all Peruvian families,” he concluded.
