Conviasa extends suspension of flights to Mexico, Cuba and Nicaragua due to Hurricane Melissa

The Venezuelan airline Consorcio Venezolano de Industrias Aeronáuticas y Servicios Aéreos SA (Conviasa), announced this Wednesday the extension of the suspension of its flights to Mexico, Cuba and Nicaragua, as a preventive measure in the presence of Hurricane Melissa in the Caribbean Sea.

Through a statement on its social networks, the airline reported: “Conviasa informs its passengers that due to the presence in the Caribbean Sea of ​​Hurricane Melissa, the suspension of flights to and from Mexico, Cuba and Nicaragua is extended until October 31, 2025.”

In turn, he indicated that “in the next few hours, passengers affected by this situation will be notified via email of the rescheduling date of their flight.”

The company reaffirmed its commitment to air safety, ensuring that “it will continue to evaluate the evolution of the climate phenomenon to guarantee the safety of its flights and will communicate any updates in a timely manner through its official channels.”

Although Melissa has dropped to Category 1 after passing through Jamaica and Cuba, the United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned that global and regional hurricane models continue to suggest that it has a short-term window to re-intensify as it passes through warmer waters.
