The National Assembly (AN) guarantees the rights of people with disabilities and promotes awareness and respect for people with Down Syndrome, as stated by the representative for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) of the state of Táchira, Jessica Moreno, during an ordinary session.
The parliamentarian’s statements are made regarding October being Down Syndrome Awareness Month. In this sense, Parliament works every day to guarantee human rights and the real inclusion of people with disabilities.
Moreno highlighted that, through the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, we have worked tirelessly for the non-discrimination and incorporation of our boys and girls, men and women in national life, without distinction of status.
Likewise, he explained that the Legislative Branch celebrates it, but also supports all organizations, foundations and institutions to promote awareness and respect for people with Down Syndrome, for which the commitment to legislate for them is assumed.
“It is not about celebrating the differences of people with Down Syndrome, it is about celebrating the capabilities that these men and women have who teach us to be more human and love,” said the deputy.
