The banking union seeks to have a much closer collaboration with some government bodies such as the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF).
Starting in July 2026, banks are expected to identify people who make deposits or withdraw cash for more than 140,000 pesos to prevent crimes such as money laundering.
“We will provide you with biometric data and this also goes beyond regulation; it not only seeks to avoid illicit activities, but also digitize the economy and the excessive use of cash,” he highlighted.

This seeks to give time for the banking services of the people receiving remittances and the banks will be able to ensure who are the people who receive the international transfers.
The bankers said that the implementation of these identification measures for those who send and receive remittances will be gradual, and they assured that the union already has simplified mechanisms to open accounts in an agile manner.
This plan by the banks occurs after the sanctions against Vector, Intercam and CI Banco came into force on October 20, which the Treasury Department postponed on two occasions.
CI Banco requested a voluntary revocation of its license, eliminating its existence in the financial sector, while Intercam operates but with reduced activity.
Vector sold its operations in Mexico and the United States although it maintains its Brokerage House license.
