Keiko Fujimori: Who is part of Fuerza Popular's presidential plan for 2026?

Keiko Fujimori makes official tomorrow, Thursday, October 30, in the afternoon, his candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic in the 2026 general elections.

She won’t be alone. At the party event, which will take place in a location on the outskirts of Trujillo, near the Huanchaco Oval, the leader of Popular Force (FP) will be accompanied by some of the militants who are eligible to aspire to a seat in the Senate, Chamber of Deputies and Andean Parliament.

But also, as he learned Peru21for whom the two candidates for the first and second vice-presidency of the Republic will be: Luis Galarreta Velarde and Miki Torres Morales, who currently hold the positions of secretary general and deputy secretary general of the orange group, respectively. In the case of Miki Torres, it should be noted that he also hopes to win a Senate seat.

In the case of Galarreta, it is the second time that he will run for vice president; He also did it in the 2021 general elections. On that occasion the third member of the formula was Patricia Juárez.

Heading to 2026

In compliance with the electoral schedule, the Fuerza Popular Electoral Tribunal approved the list of suitable candidates for the party’s internal elections.

Among the candidates for the Senate of the Republic are well-known faces, some of them are currently congressmen such as Alejandro Aguinaga, Martha Moyano, Héctor Ventura, Nilza Chacón, Fernando Rospigliosi and Patricia Juárez.

In other cases, former parliamentarians such as Martha Chávez Cossío, who was president of the Congress of the Republic in the 1995-96 period, Marco Miyashiro, Karla Schaefer, Carlos Tubino, Segundo Tapia, Jacques Rodrich, Rafael Yamashiro —who belonged to the ranks of the Popular Christian Party—return, among others. Also former ministers like Jaime Sobero Taira.

Something similar happens with candidates for deputies. This list also includes the names of former and current legislators such as Cecilia Chacón, Rosangella Barbarán, Karina Beteta, Arturo Alegría, Rafael Aíta, Liliana Takayama, Auristela Obando, Diethell Columbus and Cruz Zeta, whose connection with the late former president Alberto Fujimori was known.

There is also Pier Figari Mendoza, close to the Fujimori leader. He was an advisor to former congresswoman Cecilia Chacón and served preventive detention for 18 months – from November 2018 to May 2020 – within the framework of the investigation for the alleged commission of the crime of money laundering in the Cocteles case. His application to the Chamber of Deputies, sources say, would seek to be a vindication and recognition of Figari’s loyalty to Keiko Fujimori.
