The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, held telephone contact with the head of the State Duma of Russia, Viacheslav Volodin, to address the issue of interparliamentary cooperation between Russia and Venezuela, which has been strengthened with the Approving Law for the Treaty of Strategic Association between both countries.
Through his Instagram account, Rodríguez highlighted that in this conversation he explained to President Volodin the serious violations of international law committed by the US Government, a country that, in violation of the United Nations Charter, carries out an “unprecedented” military deployment in the Caribbean.
“We ratify that the Caribbean must remain a zone of peace and the unwavering decision of the people of Venezuela to defend their independence and sovereignty,” he stressed.
Finally, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, specified that “we hoped for the strengthening of a multipolar world that constitutes the supreme objective shared by President Vladimir Putin and President Nicolás Maduro Moros,” reaffirming the firm commitment to interparliamentary cooperation in favor of common objectives.
It should be noted that, two days ago, the president of Russia, Vladimir Putinsigned the law ratifying the Treaty of Strategic Association and Cooperation with Venezuela, sanctioned by the National Assembly and supported by the Russian parliament (State Duma), in order to deepen cooperation in energy, mining, transportation, communications, security, and the fight against terrorism.
Said Strategic Partnership Treaty was signed on May 7 in Moscow by the Russian leader and the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, within the framework of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War.
