A Mexico City judge issued an arrest warrant against Jesus Martinezowner of Real Oviedo in Spain, which is part of the Pachuca Groupof which the Mexican teams Pachuca and León are also part, as well as Everton from Viña del Mar (Chile) and Talleres de Córdoba from Argentina.
According to local media, the order issued is for the crime of aggravated private disobedience and was granted because Martínez did not appear for the second time at a hearing to address the accusations against him. So far, neither Grupo Pachuca nor any of its teams has commented on this order.
The case arose from a legal dispute between Pachuca and León, Mexican soccer teams, and the Fox Sports television network, owned by Grupo Lauman, which was in charge of broadcasting the team’s home games. Both teams broke off relations with the network and unilaterally, Grupo Pachuca closed a contract with Fox Corp, which is seen through the Tubi application, for the transmission of its matches, which generated lawsuits for breach of contract.
This caused a judge last April to prohibit the broadcast of these teams’ matches until there was a resolution on the case. To unblock the dissemination of its games, Grupo Pachuca resorted to an amparo before a civil judge in the Mexican capital, who finally granted the suspension of the local judge’s measures. It is not the first conflict in which Jesús Martínez and his consortium have been involved.

Grupo Pachuca also had problems in the last FIFA Club World Cup, a competition in which León and Pachuca of Mexico qualified, but since they belonged to the same owner, FIFA determined that León was eliminated from the World Cup, due to the prohibition of timeshare ownership. So far, the Mexican Football Federation has not issued a position regarding the situation either.
