Ministers Rui Costa (Civil House) and Ricardo Lewandowski (Justice and Public Security) will hold an emergency meeting with the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, this Wednesday (30). 
Operation Containment, carried out this Tuesday (29), in the Alemão and Penha complexes, left at least 64 people dead and is considered the most lethal in Rio de Janeiro.
Furthermore, Rui Costa responded to the request of the governor of Rio de Janeiro to transfer of 10 inmates to federal prisons.
These men allegedly led actions from within the chain that culminated in chaos in the city, including blocking lanes and hijacking buses in different parts of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
Meeting evaluated developments
The federal government added, in a note, that a meeting at the Civil House with the presence of the then acting President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, and ministers Rui Costa, Gleisi Hoffmann, Jorge Messias (AGU), Macaé Evaristo (Human Rights and Citizenship), Sidônio Palmeira (Communication) and the executive secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, Manoel Carlos, evaluated the developments of the operation in Rio de Janeiro.
“During the meeting, the federal police and military forces reiterated that there was no consultation or request for support from the state government of Rio de Janeiro to carry out the operation,” the government reported.
Also this afternoon, minister Ricardo Lewandowski had indicated that he had not received a request from the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, for support for Operation Containment.
