Nicolás Fariña presents “Traces of Time and Transmutation” at the French Alliance of Melo
The inauguration will be this Friday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m. at the Alliance Française de Melo – Calle De la Rosa 689 and the exhibition will be on throughout November from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This November, the Alliance Française de Melo will become a space where iron and memory dialogue, led by the sculptor Nicolás Fariña, who presents his exhibition “Traces of time and transmutation”, an artistic proposal that challenges the traditional view of matter and creation.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m., and will remain open throughout the month, with free access to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
THE ART OF TRANSFORMING THE FORGOTTEN
In “Traces of time and transmutation”, Fariña invites visitors to immerse themselves in a universe where the obsolete regains meaning. Through fragments of iron, remains of machinery, rusty gears and industrial pieces, the artist achieves a visual and symbolic metamorphosis: what was once discarded becomes a work full of life and reflection.
Each sculpture is the result of a patient, almost ritual process in which the artist rescues materials from oblivion to give them a new existence. Fariña not only works with metal, but also with the time it contains: the traces of use, wear, erosion and the industrial memory of a past that still breathes.
Iron—hard, heavy and apparently inert—becomes, under his gaze, a poetic vehicle. “My work,” the sculptor has said on several occasions, “seeks dialogue between matter and soul, between what was and what can still be.”
AN ALCHEMY BETWEEN MATTER AND SENSE
The title of the show, “Traces of time and transmutation”, It is not coincidental. It summarizes the essence of the proposal: the constant transformation of matter, the possibility that deterioration becomes beauty, and that the old is reinvented in a new cycle.
Each piece on display seems to contain an invisible story, a narrative that the public can reconstruct through their own interpretation. The exhibition is presented as a symbolic journey through the traces of time, where oxidation and form speak of a process of internal and collective transmutation.
Spectators will find in Fariña’s sculptures a balance between the primitive and the contemporary. The rough textures of iron coexist with soft lines, insinuating curves and assemblies that evoke bodies, movements or stopped silences. The result is a series of works that, beyond their material force, transmit a deep emotional and philosophical charge.
A SCULPTOR WITH OWN SEAL
Born in Melo, Nicolás “Nico” Fariña has developed an outstanding career within regional and national sculptural art, characterized by his link with creative recycling and experimentation with metals. His work has been recognized for his ability to combine craftsmanship with a conceptual outlook, and for the way in which he converts cold and industrial materials into expressions of humanity and time.
Fariña belongs to that generation of artists who understand art as an act of reconstruction: rescues, reinterprets and reinvents what others discard. In his workshop, each piece of scrap metal is transformed into a possibility, each metal piece is redefined into a symbol.
His work has been shown in various group exhibitions and art fairs, but this exhibition at the Alliance Française represents a mature synthesis of his aesthetic and spiritual search.
A SPACE FOR ART AND REFLECTION
The French Alliance of Melo continues to consolidate itself as a cultural reference center in the department, offering a space where local, national and international artists come together. With this exhibition, it reaffirms its commitment to the dissemination of contemporary art and the promotion of creators from the region.
The public who visits the exhibition will be able to appreciate not only Fariña’s technical mastery, but also the symbolic depth of his works, which question the passage of time, inner transformation and the human capacity to find beauty even in what seems ruined or disused.
The inauguration on Friday the 7th promises to be a warm and participatory meeting, where the artist will share with attendees details of his creative process and the meaning that lives in each of his sculptures.
A DATE WITH ART AND MATTER
“Traces of time and transmutation” It is more than an exhibition: it is a sensory experience, a silent conversation between iron and the soul. Nicolás Fariña’s sculptures are not limited to occupying a physical space; They transform him, load him with memory and invite him to be reborn.
Admission is free and the public will be able to tour the exhibition throughout November, during the usual hours of the Alliance Française. A unique opportunity to discover how, in the hands of a sensitive and visionary creator, metal becomes poetry.
