LAP urges the MTC to fulfill its commitments after suspension of the TUUA until December

LAP urges the MTC to fulfill its commitments after suspension of the TUUA until December

Lima Airport Partners (LAP), concessionaire of Jorge Chavez International Airportreported this Monday the suspension of the collection of the Unified Airport Use Fee (TUUA) for passengers in international transfer. The maximum deadline will be until December 7.

The company clarified that this measure is part of the commitments recently assumed with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) and the Supervisory Body for Investment in Transport Infrastructure for Public Use (Ositran).

Through a statement, LAP highlighted that the State has formally recognized the obligation to respect what is established in the Jorge Chávez Airport Concession Contract and its Addendum 6, a document that supports the right of the concessionaire to apply the TUUA to passengers who make stopovers or air connections in Lima during international flights.

The company pointed out that the suspension announced by the MTC should not be interpreted as a definitive elimination of the charge, but rather as a pause that will allow progress in complementary measures to improve the transparency of information to passengers.

In that sense, LAP recalled that the working group held on October 23 agreed that the MTC will manage the modification of the Regulations of the Civil Aeronautics Law, so that all costs related to air transportation are clearly shown on travel tickets.

Likewise, work will be done on a proposal for a new addendum to adjust the amount of the Domestic Transfer TUUA, applicable to domestic flights with internal connections.

According to the concessionaire, this charge is not currently being carried out, so alternatives will be evaluated for its implementation without affecting the user, but ensuring the economic sustainability of the private investment in the air terminal.

On the other hand, LAP indicated that OSITRAN and its Board of Directors will continue with the rate setting process in accordance with current regulatory provisions, under the principles of predictability, legality and objectivity. This implies that any modification or adjustment of the TUUA must respect the pre-established rules and contractual conditions assumed by both parties.
