“In the country a kind of conviction is required that without the private sector the rest of the economy and society is not going to move forward.” This is what the director of the Peruvian Institute of Economics (IPE), Diego Macera, who also highlighted other pending tasks to be done.
During his presentation at the III Regional Development Meeting organized by Credicorp, he pointed out that it is also necessary to take advantage of the regional chambers of commerce to work together.
“The main allies for large companies should be workers and suppliers,” he added and highlighted the importance that unions also provide to bring the voice of companies to more places.
Meanwhile, the Knowledge Manager of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, CAF, Verónica Frisancho, considered that it is necessary to redesign governance in a way that promotes coordination and cooperation with the private sector, civil society and academia.
In this regard, he questioned that every time regulation is done it is done without including the private sector, when what is needed is to listen to them to reduce the regulatory uncertainty that hits countries in the region, including Peru.
ELECTIONS
On the other hand, the IPE representative considered that it is necessary to build an ecosystem to “arrive in a better position” for the 2031 elections. For Macera, it is also necessary to pay attention to how they are being trained in universities.
For his part, the CEO of Credicorp, Gianfranco Ferrari, considered that there is a lot of work to do in the following months ahead of the 2026 elections. “You have to do small things that together generate a great impact for the country.”
FINANCIAL INCLUSION
The president of Ipsos, Alfredo Torres, also participated in the Credicorp forum, who presented the Results of the 2025 Financial Inclusion Index and pointed out that the growth of inclusion has been driven by digital wallets.
Likewise, he indicated that in Peru, half of the people already use these financial instruments to make payments.
