The former president Pedro Castillo spoke during the hearing of the oral trial against him this Tuesday, October 28, with a view to the Elections 2026. In that sense, the former president — who is being investigated for the alleged crime of rebellion after his attempted coup d’état in December 2022 — assured that in next year’s electoral elections, together with his political party, he will “recover the government.”
In that sense, the former head of state stated that “in April 2026” with a group of political figures, the Together for Peru party and its political organization Everything with the Peoplethey will achieve their goal.
Currently, former President Castillo could not run for the Presidency because he is deprived of his freedom due to the judicial process he is facing in the midst of preventive detention until December of this year.
On the other hand, from the Congressprecisely in the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations (SAC) a report is prepared that proposes disqualifying him from public service for a period of 10 years, due to his attempted coup d’état in 2022 when he gave a message to the Nation and announced the closure of the Parliament.

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor’s Office has requested the Judiciary impose a prison sentence against the former president of 34 years in prison, a civil reparation greater than S/64 million and a disqualification from public service for three and a half years.
In August this year, the former supreme leader registered his political party “Everything with the People“before him National Election Jury (JNE). However, the group will not be able to be part of the parties running for 2026 because the registration period expired in July 2025. It will only be able to participate in the regional and municipal elections or in 2031.

From the Barbadillo prison, the former president Pedro Castillo participated in a session of the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations (SAC), where the constitutional complaints against him for the attempted coup d’état of December 7, 2022 were evaluated. During his intervention, Castillo Terrones addressed a forceful message to the Congress of the Republicstating that this was intended for citizens and did not constitute a defense against the charges against him.
“You have a car of the year, a salary. You want to kill a person. I will be here and wherever you want. We are going to meet at the Government Palace. We will see you at the change of command. In that sense, I will be here and wherever you want. I have addressed the people, not this Subcommittee,” he said.
