The Chamber of Deputies approved this Tuesday (28) Bill 1249/22, which guarantees leave of up to 2 consecutive days per month for women who suffer from serious symptoms associated with menstrual flow. The matter goes to the Senate for analysis.
The license will be valid for workers with a formal contract, domestic workers and interns. The right to paid leave will be granted upon presentation of a medical report proving the conditions that temporarily prevent them from carrying out their activities.
The approved text is the version of the rapporteur, deputy Professor Marcivania (PCdoB-AP), for the project authored by deputy Jandira Feghali (PCdoB-RJ)who argued that the measure aims to ensure greater equity and prevention in occupational health.
“Around 15% of women face serious symptoms, with severe pain in the lower abdomen and intense cramps, which often affect their routine”, explains Jandira Feghali.
According to the substitute, it will be up to the Executive Branch to define the validity period of the medical report, the form of presentation and the periodicity of its renewal, considering peculiarities of the activities carried out by the woman.
