Medellín Metro installed railway track and is preparing tests to normalize service on line A

All this occurs after the scour that occurred between the Poblado and Aguacatala stations.

He Mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrezaccompanied by the Metro manager, reported in the last few hours that significant progress was achieved in the repair works on Line A of the mass transportation system.

According to the president, he has already been reinstated the railway in the section between the Poblado and Aguacatala stations.

The president thanked the Metro technical team that continues to work tirelessly to complete the work. This process is currently in the evaluation and technical testing phase, in order to guarantee that the restoration of the service will be done safely in the next few hours.

During the work, more than 650 tons of material have been placed, including rock, concrete and bagcrete, which has made it possible to fill the scour pit, reinforce the railway bench and restore stability to the terrain.

“It is demonstrated thatThe damage was a sudden and unpredictable issue, and that is what all the technicians say. It is important to continue on the critical points. In this area, especially in railway areas of the Medellín metro, in the previous four years they had not made a single investment, except for those that the Metro had made around the system, with approximately an investment of $28,000 million“said Mayor Gutiérrez.

He added that “what we will do from now on, what we are already doing with the metropolitan area, plus the investment of the District of Medellín, there are $94,000 million in critical points in the river and added to critical points, but in other ravines and areas of the city it would add up to around $150,000 million pesos that are guaranteed, some of which are already in progress and others are in design.”

Among the actions carried out, the Metro manager, Tomás Elejalde, He explained that, now, the work will consist of preparing the land, in order for the service to return to normal in the next few hours.

Despite the contingency, the Medellín Metro said that the number of passengers has remained stable, with a reduction close to 15%, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the connection routes enabled between the El Poblado and Aguacatala stations.

Let us remember that this emergency, according to the Metro, affects about 140 thousand people directly every day.
