The spread of measles is stopped: Ssa

The measles transmission chain has stopped, the Ministry of Health (Ssa) assured yesterday, although there are active cases in seven states: Chihuahua, Guerrero, Jalisco, the state of Mexico, Michoacán, Querétaro and Sinaloa.

He indicated that since February, when the outbreak began in Chihuahua, 5,029 cases have been confirmed and more than 8 million triple viral (measles, rubella and mumps) and SR (measles, rubella) vaccines have been applied nationwide.

In a statement, he highlighted that last July, 4.5 million doses of SRP and 1.4 million SR were acquired, and vaccination was expanded to people up to 49 years of age. Priority has been given to agricultural laborers who travel between nearby communities and rural fields in the national territory.

Measles is a viral disease with one of the highest known infection rates, from one to 18 people.
