New setback in the Cocktails Casewhich involves the former presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori. Following the Constitutional Court’s ruling declaring the case null and void, Judge Wilson Verástegui, of the Tenth National Preparatory Investigation Court, decided to recuse himself from the case.
This is stated in Resolution No. 08 of the Judiciary issued on October 25, 2025.
This measure is taken after a television report that links the magistrate with César Acuña, leader of the Alianza para el Progreso political party, which suggests a closeness between the two and, always according to the report, links with the leader of Fuerza Popular.
This motivated the judge to withdraw from the case, in order to “guarantee the transparency and impartiality of the process.”
The court document confirms that the case will be randomly redistributed to another judge of the National Superior Court, who will assume file No. 00299-2017.
In this, Keiko Fujimori appears as one of the main defendants for the crime of money laundering and criminal organization, linked to the financing of her presidential campaigns.
On the other hand, the Criminal Appeals Chamber will review the inhibition to validate the procedure. It was also decided to incorporate as annexes the journalistic publications that motivated the decision.
