The Minister of the Interior and Justice Diosdado Cabello supported the position of the Brazilian president this Monday, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who expressed his concern due to the increase in tension between Caracas and Washington and offered to mediate between both governments.

During the weekly press conference of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Cabello highlighted that Lula’s attitude reflects good sense in the face of a conflict that, as he warned, could have consequences beyond Venezuelan borders.

“It is fine” and “it is logical” that Lula “has concern,” said Cabello, while recalling that anyone who “believes that a conflict with Venezuela is limited only to Venezuela is not reading real history correctly.”

The official pointed out that geographical proximity and regional ties explain Brazil’s interest in the Venezuelan situation.

Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira confirmed the proposal after the meeting that the Brazilian president held on Sunday with US President Donald Trump in Malaysia.
