Sheinbaum: "instead of sanctioning, the INE must promote the revocation consultation"

When questioned about the agreement approved by the Chamber of Deputies to eliminate the electoral ban in this exercise, the head of government explained that it must be endorsed by the Senate of the Republic and from there the scope will be established.

“From this decree, we are going to wait for the guidelines of the legislators themselves and also, where appropriate, the National Electoral Institute” (…) If the decree is approved in the Senate, it would be necessary to see what the conditions are and, in any case, that they (those who requested permission to promote the consultation) will make their own decision,” he replied.

Claudia Sheinbaum clarified that the removal of billboards —ordered by the INE— and the decree are not related to each other, so the former, even if the agreement is approved, would still have to be removed.

“The decree has to do with the participation of legislators, I don’t know if it reaches public servants, that would have to be determined. But what should be discussed is the possibility of being able to communicate, not the scope of the decree,” he added.

The statements of the head of government are given after the remarks that she exchanged this Friday through Twitter with the electoral advisor Ciro Murayama, after the INE ordered the withdrawal of propaganda related to the revocation consultation.

Where did the money come from?

Upon learning of the resolution of the General Council of the INE, Sheinbaum charged that it was a sign that its members “have the objective of boycotting the process of revoking the mandate, violating the free expression of citizens, which is the essence of democracy.”

For his part, Murayama said that it is “curious” that no one in the Mexico City government knows who ordered the billboards to be put up. “Nobody knows who ordered the billboards to be put up (who gave the order?). Nobody claims to have paid for them (where did all that money come from?). But we already know who is bothered by the withdrawal of that anonymous political propaganda and with opaque funds. : to the head of government,” he published.
