The red alert is raised to more municipalities of Quindío due to the threat of landslides

Risk management organizations make several recommendations to prevent emergencies

In the last few hours the levels of rain have been considerable in Quindío, which has led that Ideam issues a red alert due to the threat of landslides in the municipalities of Circasia, Filandia and Salento.

In the same way and for the same conditions, the Orange alert was issued in Armenia, Buenavista, Calarcá, Córdoba, Génova, La Tebaida, Montenegro, Pijao and Quimbaya.

The meteorologist on duty from the Ideam Forecast and Warning Services Office, José David Garavito Mahecha, pointed out that more rain is expected, especially in the afternoon – night. “For the department of Quindío and the city of Armenia, during the last few hours there have been mostly cloudy skies, with some light to moderate rainfall and sectorized,” said the meteorologist.

Garavito Mahecha expressed that, “in terms of forecast, I tell you that for the next few hours mostly cloudy skies are expected with probable moderate to light rains.”

In the same way and under the conditions being registered, It is not ruled out that thunderstorms will be generated like those already presented in the early hours of this Sunday, October 26.

In Quindío, several recommendations are being made to prevent emergencies, among the main ones are do not do the so-called river walks which are prohibited in this rainy season.

It is worth mentioning that the director of the Departmental Unit for Disaster Risk Management, Jaider Hidalgo, several emergencies have been attended to between landslides, floods, tree falls that have affected mobility on several roads, among them, the Coffee Highway between Armenia and Pereira, in addition, some sudden floods.

From entities such as the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Quindío (CRQ), Monitoring is being carried out in the 12 municipalities of the departmentto verify the actions that allow mitigating the risks of possible effects caused by the rains.
