The Maduro administration reported the capture of a mercenary group that had “direct information” from the US Central Intelligence Agency about the alleged aggression

The administration of Nicolás Maduro denounced this Sunday, October 26, that “a false flag attack” is underway from waters bordering Trinidad and Tobago to generate a military confrontation with Venezuela.

Through a statement released on Sunday, October 26, he noted that the alleged attack “in progress” could also be carried out from Trinidad’s own territory or even from Venezuela.

In the text, the capture of a mercenary group that had “direct information” from the US Central Intelligence Agency about the alleged aggression was reported.

No details were given about the “mercenary group.” The number of people, their identity, the place where they were detained and whether they were carrying any type of weapons are unknown.

The Maduro administration noted that the US military exercises in Trinidad and Tobago, which take place from October 26 to 30, constitute “a hostile provocation against Venezuela and a serious threat to the peace of the Caribbean.”

He accused the Government of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of renouncing the sovereignty of Trinidad and Tobago to bow to the military interests of the United States and converting its territory into an “aircraft carrier” for “the war throughout the Caribbean against Venezuela, against Colombia and against all of South America.”

The destroyer USS Gravely, of the United States Navy, arrived this Sunday, October 26, in Trinidad and Tobago to carry out military exercises for several days, as part of Washington’s naval deployment in the Caribbean Sea.

The distance of the island of Trinidad from the Venezuelan coast is just 11 kilometers at its closest point.

In addition to the destroyer, the arrival of the 22nd Expeditionary Unit of the US Marine Corps is expected.
