The Chamber of Deputies announced yesterday the cancellation of a sound-bite event that would take place in two weeks at its facilities, after multiple criticisms arose over the fact that parliamentarians allocate their time to activities other than legislative ones.
In instant messaging groups for information related to the Chamber, the image of the poster for the sonidero dance was released, which was scheduled for November 7 at 5 p.m. in Plaza Neri, with a red sign that says “event canceled.”
The announcement that this activity will not be carried out occurs after in recent days there were various accusations due to the evidence that many deputies do not pay attention to their legislative obligations.
Last Monday, the Morenista Cuauhtémoc Blanco participated remotely in a meeting of the Budget Commission – in which an opinion was approved in favor of the presidential initiative for a new General Water Law and reform of the National Water Law – while playing a game of paddle tennis.
A day later, Sonora Santanera offered a concert at the venue to mark its 70 years of experience. Morena deputies even left the session where the Customs Law was discussed to attend the “bailongo.” As a result of the criticism, the president of the Political Coordination Board, Ricardo Monreal, admitted that his parliamentary group must “review the moments very well” to carry out this type of activities, in such a way that the deputies dedicate “90 percent (of the time) to the legislative, and 10 percent to other activities.”
Due to the above, the cancellation of new tributes and concerts at the venue is expected, including the one that was planned with Los Ángeles Azules in November.
