He Prime Minister Manuel Marrero He arrived this Saturday in Saudi Arabia, where he plans to participate in a global investment forum and also meet with authorities from that country.
The visit, which should extend throughout the next week, coincides with the imminent impact of Hurricane Melissa in eastern Cuba, which keeps the island under maximum tension.
When informing about their arrival in the Arab country, the Cuban Government he pointed out in his networks that Marrero and the delegation accompanying him “will develop an intense bilateral agenda, which will contribute to strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.”
For its part, the prime minister himself assured that his visit responds to an invitation from His Royal Highness the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohamed bin Salman to participate in the IX edition of the Future of Investment Initiative Forum.

The event, which will be held from October 27 to 30, will bring together more than 5 thousand participants, including government, business and investment leaders from more than 90 countries, refers the site Cubadebate.
For his part, Waleed Bin Abdulrahman Alhamoudi, ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Cuba, he told the newspaper Granma that the participation of Marrero and his delegation in the forum “confirms the commitment” of the Cuban authorities “to opening to the global economy and represents an opportunity to strengthen economic and technical cooperation” with their country.
“Mutual willingness to strengthen ties”
Both Marrero and the official Cuban press highlighted that the prime minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia takes place “on the threshold of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations” between both nations, which will occur in 2026.
In this sense, the head of government pointed out that his trip “reaffirms the mutual will to strengthen the ties between the two countries, forged on the basis of respect and solidarity.”
Meanwhile, the Saudi ambassador to Cuba considered that the visit of Marrero and his delegation—made up of officials from the island’s Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Trade—is an “important step to consolidate relations” between Havana and Riyadh.
In addition, he said that in his country “there is a growing interest in expanding cooperation to sectors such as renewable energy, tourism, health, culture, education and agriculture.”
The prime minister was received in the Saudi capital by Prince Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, deputy governor of the city, whom he “thanked for the contribution of the Arab country in the development of important social programs that benefit the Cuban population,” as well as Riyadh’s support against the United States embargo/blockade.
The official report indicates that, in addition to participating in the investment forum, Marrero “will hold bilateral meetings with high authorities of this nation,” but does not specify who he will meet with or whether he expects the signing of any bilateral agreement.
Cuba and Saudi Arabia sign memorandum to “strengthen and diversify cooperation in the health field”
Cuba and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia established diplomatic relations in 1956. Cubadebate highlights that they “have registered a boost in recent years in various areas”, among which is “the promotion of trade, medical collaboration, cultural exchange and cooperation with the Saudi Fund for Development.”
For its part, Granma highlights medical cooperation since 2014, and the contribution of the Saudi Fund in “high social impact hydraulic projects” on the island. Likewise, it points out the coincidence of international issues, such as support for the Palestinian cause.
