International TUUA collection at Jorge Chávez airport postponed until December

International TUUA collection at Jorge Chávez airport postponed until December

He Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced that the dealer Lima Airport Partners (LAP) has decided to postpone the collection of the Unified Airport Use Fee (TUUA) for international transfers – which was to come into effect on October 27 – until December 7, 2025, at the Jorge Chávez international airport.

The measure is adopted temporarily with the objective of completing the tariff review processes and harmonization of current regulations.

The TUUA is a payment that is applied to passengers for services provided within the airport, such as the use of lounges, operational infrastructure, baggage handling and support in the boarding and disembarkation process.

As indicated by the MTC in an official statement, the international transfer fee is part of the contractual commitments signed between the Peruvian State and LAP, the concessionaire in charge of the country’s main air terminal.

The announcement came after a working group in which the MTC, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and the Supervisory Body for Investment in Public Transport Infrastructure (Ositrán) participated, with the purpose of resolving doubts and seeking consensus that prioritizes the interest of users.

“The Peruvian State reaffirms its unrestricted respect for legality and legal certainty, principles that guide its actions within the framework of concession contracts and current regulations,” states the document released by the MTC.

Likewise, the ministry specified that it has been working together with LAP on a contractual modification that will allow the collection of the national transfer TUUA to be eliminated, the collection of which remains suspended.

In parallel, the MTC will manage a modification of the Regulations of the Civil Aeronautics Law in order to guarantee that all costs associated with air transportation are communicated transparently on travel tickets. With this, the aim is that passengers can know the details of the charges and rates before making a purchase or reservation.

Final transfer fees under evaluation

For its part, Ositrán reported that it is currently evaluating the setting of definitive transfer rates for the Jorge Chávez airport, a process that will be resolved in the coming weeks.

These rates will be approved in strict compliance with their powers and current regulations on airport infrastructure.
