Argentines are already on the streets this Sunday (26) to vote in the legislative elections that will renew 127 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 24 in the Senate. The election centers have been open since 8am waiting for 35 million voters. Voting will close at 6pm (local time) in all provinces.
The new electoral process will determine the composition of Congress for the last two years of President Javier Milei’s term. Internally, the election is seen as a referendum that will assess the impact of the Argentine president’s profound austerity policies.
Renewal
Half of Argentina’s Chamber of Deputies, i.e. 127 seats, as well as a third of the Senate, i.e. 24 seats, are up for grabs. The most relevant race will take place in the province of Buenos Aires, where a large number of places are contested.
The forecast in the country is that the first results will be released at 11pm.
