Before the meeting, Trump said that he was confident that he would reach very good agreements with Lula, although he did not give details afterwards. according to the agency EFE.
The American president was accompanied by the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio; Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent; and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
The meeting between Trump and Lula took place in parallel with the Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and allied countries, which began this Sunday at the Kuala Lumpur convention center.

Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, offered statements to the press at the end of the meeting, in which he described the meeting as a “frank dialogue” and offered details about the issues addressed by the presidents and the agreements drawn up.
“There were 45 minutes of very positive, very productive conversation. The presidents discussed all the issues,” said Vieria, who explained that Lula “renewed the Brazilian request for the suspension of tariffs imposed on Brazilian exports during a negotiation period.”
Trump, for his part, instructed his team to continue negotiations with the Brazilian side to begin the path towards specific agreements, explained the chancellor, who said that this Sunday a negotiation schedule would be established between both parties.
