CMN authorizes Proex equalization in pre-shipment of exports

The National Confederation of Industry (CNI) declared this Sunday (26) that the meeting between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the President of the United States, Donald Trump, represents a “concrete advance” in the attempt to suspend tariffs on Brazilian exports.CNI: Lula-Trump meeting represents "concrete advance" in negotiations

In a press release, the entity’s president, Ricardo Alban, said that the beginning of dialogue between the two countries is an important step towards the resumption of exports.

“The announcement of the start of negotiations on tariffs, with a real willingness on the part of both parties to reach an agreement, is a relevant step. We believe that we will have a solution that will return predictability and competitiveness to Brazilian exports, strengthening industry and employment in the country”, he declared.

After the meeting between Lula and Trump, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, confirmed that the first meeting between Brazilian and United States diplomacy to review the tariff will take place this Sunday.

The negotiations will be led by the chancellor himself, who will have assistance from the executive secretary of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Márcio Fernando Elias Rosa. On the North American side, the negotiations will be led by Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent.

In July this year, Trump announced a 50% tariff on all Brazilian products that are exported to the United States. Subsequently, ministers from the Brazilian government and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) were also the target of the revocation of travel visas and other sanctions by the North American administration.
