SILVER PORT.- Given the forecasts announcing the occurrence of strong rainsthe Cabildo of the municipality of San Felipe de Puerto Plata has intensified the cleaning and dredging work of ravines to avoid floods.
As could be seen, municipal workers supported by a fleet of backhoes, mechanical shovels and dump trucks have been carrying out an extensive sanitation operation in ditches, ravines and storm drains for several days.
These tasks are personally supervised by the Puerto Plata municipal mayor. Diomedes Roque García Núñez (Roquelito), with the purpose of guaranteeing the safety and tranquility of residents in the most vulnerable areas of the city.

Roquelito García stated that the operations will continue to be carried out with heavy machinery from the Cabildo, who carry out deep cleaning and removal of sediments accumulated in the tributary channels.
He said that the work began in the ravine that begins in the Los Domínguez sector and on its way to the sea it crosses the neighborhoods of Villa Progreso, Las Flores, La Chocolatera, Conani, Barrio Haiti, Gregorio Luperón, Puerto Rico and Nuevo Renacer (Aguas Negras).
The municipal executive reiterated his commitment to continue with these preventive sanitation actions in different parts of the city in order to avoid overflows and floods that affect Puerto Plata families in the face of rains and floods.
Likewise, the communicator Edén Domínguez who is the spokesperson for the City Council of “La Novia del Atlántico” urged the population to be prudent and collaborate with the cleaning of their environment, not to throw solid waste into the ravines and storm drains, to contribute to the well-being and safety of all residents.
