Puebla group rejects US military threats in the Caribbean

The Puebla Group spoke out after the recent threats and attacks perpetrated by the United States (US) in the Caribbean, who have also mobilized the most powerful aircraft carrier in the US forces.

«It is not a fight against drug trafficking: it is a direct threat to the sovereignty of our people. We reject all forms of interference and militarization in our region,” they added in the publication.

It should be noted that the United States War Department reported that the Gerald R. Ford Aircraft Carrier Strike Group will join the Southern Command operations in the Caribbean with the excuse of combating drug trafficking. It should be remembered that since the end of August the US has carried out operations attacking boats in which, according to statements by their spokesmen, they carry drug shipments, murdering more than 30 people.

These actions have been condemned by several governments in the region, especially Venezuela and Colombia, who have been affected by the Trump administration’s threats.
