THE Brazilian Communication Company (EBC) will hold next Tuesday (28) a debate in partnership with the University of Brasilia (UnB) to mark the 18 years of company creation. The event will take place at 10 am in the Pompeu de Sousa Auditorium of the Faculty of Communication (FAC) at UnB.
Confirmed presence at the meeting is the first president of the EBCTereza Cruvinel; former presidents Ricardo Melo, Kariane Costa and Hélio Doyle; the former minister of the Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom/PR) Helena Chagas; in addition to the former president of Radiobrás and professor at the University of São Paulo (USP), Eugênio Bucci, and the president of the Editorial and Programming Committee (Comep), Pedro Rafael Vilela.
Also participating in the event are the director of the Faculty of Communication at UnB Dione Moura and professor Fernando Oliveira Paulino, coordinator of the Communication Policy Laboratory (LaPCom) and president of the Latin American Association of Communication Researchers (ALAIC).
“THE EBC returns to the university, where the debate about public communication in the country grew, to debate not only our origins, but the future we need to build, of a public company relevant to society and essential for democracy in our country”, says the current president of the company, André Basbaum.
History
In October 24, 2007one presidential decree creates the Brazilian Communications Company (EBC). The company arises as a result of the debate that took place the previous year at the Public TV Forum, held in 2006, with the participation of the Ministry of Culture and the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic.
Created from the merger of the structures of TVE and Radiobrás, EBC also inherits the heritage of Brazilian public communication that began more than 100 years agowith the founding of Rádio Sociedade in Rio, which would later become the MEC Radio. In 2025, the MEC Radio completed 102 years of existence.
