PND 2025: find out what to take to this Sunday’s test

More than 1.08 million candidates will take part in the first edition of the National Teaching Test (PND) this Sunday (26), in 750 cities in the five regions of the country.PND 2025: find out what to take to this Sunday’s test

The municipalities are listed on the Portal of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep).

The PND aims to encourage the holding of public competitions and increase the number of effective teachers in public education networks in Brazil.

Those who have not yet consulted the test location can access the Registration Confirmation Card available on the PND System websitewith a login from the Gov.br platform.

The document contains the registration number, date and times of the exam. It also states whether the participant will receive treatment based on their social name, if applicable, or specialized care, such as for people with disabilities, elderly people, pregnant women and breastfeeding women.

What to take

Although it is not mandatory, Inep recommends taking it on Sunday, the day of the exam. However, the candidate will not be able to make notes on the card or keep it on the table during the test.

Photo documents: Identification with the original identity document with photo, whether physical or digital, is mandatory. The latter (digital CNH, Digital RG and E-Título) will need to be downloaded in the respective digital document applications. Therefore, it is important that you already have the application downloaded and that it has been properly tested, so that you can access it even without internet when you identify yourself at the entrance to the room where you will take the exam.

Physical documents accepted include identity cards issued by the states’ Public Security Secretariats, National Driving License (CNH) with photo, work card, Brazilian passport and others provided for in the competition notices.

Copies of documents, even authenticated by notaries, will not be allowed, nor will photos of the document, even if they are in the cell phone’s photo gallery. The following will also not be accepted: civil birth registration, voter registration card (printed or without a photo), Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF), student card, Administrative Register of Indigenous Birth (Rani), identity document protocol, as well as illegible, unidentifiable and/or damaged documents.

Black pen: Candidates must bring a ballpoint pen with black ink made of transparent material to use on the day of the exam. Pens will not be provided, and communication to request material during the tests will not be permitted.

Therefore, it is recommended to take more than one spare pen. Blue pens, pencils, erasers and other materials cannot remain on the candidate’s desk during the test.

Electronics: According to the notice, electronic equipment, such as cell phones, tablets, bracelets and smart watches, with all applications, functions and systems deactivated and turned off, including alarms, in the sealed and identified storage envelope, from entering the test room until definitively leaving the test site.

The envelope must be kept under the registrant’s chair. Candidates will only be able to open the envelopes with their belongings and turn on their cell phones when they have left the test location.

Communication: Candidates will also be eliminated from the competition if they are caught, during the tests, in any type of communication with another candidate or using calculators or similar, books, codes, manuals, handouts, printed documents or notes or any electronic devices.

Clothing and accessories: Candidates will not be able to wear sunglasses and headgear, such as caps, hats, visors, beanies or similar items, under penalty of elimination.

Schedules

The test schedule is the same across the country and follows Brasília time. Therefore, candidates must pay attention to the different time zones in the country.

The PND test will be administered at the following times:

  • gates opening: 12pm
  • gates closing: 1pm
  • start of the test: 1:30 pm
  • end of test: 7pm

Candidates will not be allowed to enter before opening time or after gate closing time.

The test will last five hours and 30 minutes. Candidates must remain in the PND application room for at least two hours from the start of the test.

Proof

The test has the same matrix as the theoretical assessment of the National Student Performance Exam (Enade) for Bachelor’s Degrees, which, since its edition in 2024, has focused on teacher training courses.

According to the PND 2025 notice, the test will consist of two parts. The first will bring questions about the general training of all teachers and the other will be about a specific component.

General training includes 30 objective questions and one discursive question, prepared based on themes related to teacher training.

The specific part has 50 multiple-choice questions, focused on the content and skills specific to each of the 17 areas of the degree.

They are: visual arts; biological sciences; social sciences; computing; physical education; philosophy; physical; geography; history; letters (English); letters (Portuguese); letters (Portuguese and Spanish); letters (Portuguese and English); mathematics; music; pedagogy and chemistry.

The PND

The National Teaching Test (PND) is not a public certification for the teaching profession, nor is it a competition.

The exam, created by the Ministry of Education (MEC) to assess the level of knowledge and training of future undergraduate teachers, also aims to help states and municipalities select teachers for their education networks.

The test will be carried out annually by Inep. The initiative is part of the More Teachers for Brazil program, which brings together actions to recognize and qualify basic education teachers and encourage teaching in the country.
