They capture an alleged member of the FARC dissidents who painted graffiti in Restrepo, Valle del Cauca

Security cameras would have recorded him painting graffiti of FARC dissidents in several homes in Restrepo.

The authorities confirmed the capture of an alleged member of the ‘Jaime Martínez’ front of the FARC dissidents, accused of painting graffiti alluding to that illegal armed group in homes in the municipality of Restrepo, department of Valle del Cauca.

According to Colonel Pedro Pablo Astaiza, deputy commander of the Valle Police Department, the detainee, identified as Jeison Eduardo Meza, alias ‘Omar González’, was recorded on security cameras when he was painting about 10 homes, a fact that generated anxiety in the communities.

“(…) The investigation originated after the appearance of 10 graffiti alluding to FARC dissidents in homes in the municipality.which caused anxiety in the community. The incident had been recorded on the sector’s security cameras, which allowed authorities to gather key information to advance the investigation. (…), an operation was carried out and Jeison Eduardo Meza was captured, as well as the seizure of war material from said structure and propaganda alluding to FARC dissidents,” he said.

According to the research, The captured person would have arrived from the department of Cauca, by order of alias ‘Marlon’, leader of the ‘Jaime Martínez’ front, in order to reinforce the armed confrontation that said structure maintains with other illegal armed groups that commit crimes in the department of Valle del Cauca such as the ELN and the Clan del Golfo.

During the operation, which included two raids and search procedures, weapons and administration material were seized and propaganda alluding to FARC dissidents.

It should be noted that a 17-year-old minor was also found at the scene, who was rescued and placed under the care of the competent entities to restore her rights.
