Villa La Mata, Sánchez Ramírez.— The Criminal Investigations Division (DICRIM) of the National Police continues the investigations after two attacks with shots and the throwing of homemade bombs against a home in the Monte Adentro sector, in this city.
According to the police report, the residence – identified as number 1 on Renovación Street – was attacked on two occasions: the first, on the night of Sunday the 19th of the current month, and the second, after 3:00 in the morning on Thursday the 23rd. In both episodes the agents collected multiple shell casings and fragments of bottles used as Molotov-type bombs on the front terrace of the house.
Official sources indicate that, despite the violence of the attacks, no fatalities or injuries were reported. Investigators have questioned several people linked to the property’s surroundings, but as of Friday night there had been no arrests related to these events.
Home occupant and possible reasons
The police interviewed Fausto Rafael Mendoza Reyes, a resident of the attacked house, who stated that he occupied the home after a real estate negotiation with a woman residing in the United States, indicated by Mendoza as the registered owner. According to their version, the alleged owner had not complied with the agreed payment agreements, which would have caused previous tensions.
Mendoza Reyes alleged to investigators that the attacks sought to intimidate him and force him to leave the property. He added that, in his opinion, the attacks would be linked to and allegedly sponsored by the woman with whom he negotiated from abroad. These criteria are part of the line of investigation followed by judicial and police agencies.
